William E. Hughes
Senior Vice President, IPA Capital Markets
As senior vice president of Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation (MMCC), Mr. Hughes is responsible for MMCC's daily operations. MMCC sourced and closed $4.9 billion in commercial real estate financing transactions in 2015.
Mr. Hughes has a diversified background in real estate finance, financial consulting and modeling, project feasibility, leasing, construction management and real estate development. He joined Marcus & Millichap in 1996. Previously, as a senior executive with Lomas & Nettleton Real Estate Investment Banking, a principal partner with Mason McDuffie Financial Corp. and a principal partner with Fountainhead Enterprises, Mr. Hughes participated in the development, finance and sale or leasing of more than $2 billion in commercial property. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California. While at USC, his emphasis was in both finance and accounting. Mr. Hughes is frequently featured as a guest speaker at industry events and is cited by the national media and trade publications as an expert commentator.
Senior Vice President/National Director
Richard Katzenstein is Senior Vice President and National Director of Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation (MMCC). Based in Manhattan, his focus is on growing MMCC’s team of loan originators, building additional lender relationships and expanding financing tools and capabilities. Mr. Katzenstein brings to his role over 30 years of capital markets experience.
Most recently Managing Regional Director of Freddie Mac’s Multifamily Housing Group, Mr. Katzenstein provided oversight of regional loan production and sales while managing a Northeast region with a multifamily portfolio approximately $15 billion throughout 10 states. Prior to that he was Managing Director of Tannery Brook Partners/Cortview Capital, supervising originations and working with senior management to create overall group origination strategy. In 2005, Mr. Katzenstein became Senior Managing Director for MUNIMAE/MMA Capital, LLC, where he directed the firm’s $3 billion investment management business, including oversight of all proprietary investment activities, third-party fund management and separate account relationships. In 1995, he joined MONY Life Insurance Company, as Managing Director.
Mr. Katzenstein is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York; the Real Estate Lenders Association; the Real Estate Finance Committee of New York; the New Jersey Apartment Association; and New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate Board of Advisors. He has served as a panelist, speaker and moderator for numerous real estate symposiums and conferences across the country. Additionally, he serves as Vice Chairman of Communities for Autism. Mr. Katzenstein earned a B.S. degree in marketing management from State University of New York at Albany, and an M.B.A. in finance from Long Island University Graduate School of Business.
