David G. Shillington

President, IPA Capital Markets

David G. Shillington is the President of Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation (MMCC), the financing subsidiary of Marcus and Millichap (MMI). MMI is a leading, national brokerage firm specializing in commercial real estate investment sales, research and advisory services. Founded in 1971, the firm closed nearly 9,000 transactions in 2017 with a value of approximately $42 billion. MMCC is a leading source of real estate capital as a national, financial intermediary and provides financing for a full range of property types. In 2017, the firm served as an intermediary on over 1,700 transactions totaling $5.5 billion in financing volume.

Mr. Shillington joined MMCC in 2018 and is based in the firm’s Atlanta office. He oversees all aspects of MMCC’s operations and growth plans in partnership with the firm’s Division and Regional managers located across the United States and Canada.

Mr. Shillington is an industry veteran with strong leadership, organizational and direct client management skills. Prior to joining Marcus & Millichap, Mr. Shillington served as an Executive Vice President with KeyBank Real Estate Capital, where he held multiple positions. His roles included Regional Manager for the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic and, Managing Director of the Agency Lending Division. Under his leadership, KeyBank’s Multifamily Capital Markets team grew into a nationally recognized, industry leader and one of the largest Agency lenders in the United States. Mr. Shillington’s career has also included the positions of Managing Director at both Bank of America Securities and First Union National Bank.

Mr. Shillington received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the College of Charleston, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He is actively involved in a number of industry organizations including NMHC, MBA, ICSC and ULI. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of REIAC and NMHC. And, he is a former member of the MBA Multifamily Housing Steering Committee, Fannie Mae DUS Advisory Board and Freddie Mac Seller Servicer Advisory Council.

Richard Katzenstein

Senior Vice President/National Director

Richard Katzenstein is Senior Vice President and National Director of Marcus & Millichap Capital Corporation (MMCC). Based in Manhattan, his focus is on growing MMCC’s team of loan originators, building additional lender relationships and expanding financing tools and capabilities. Mr. Katzenstein brings to his role over 30 years of capital markets experience.

Most recently Managing Regional Director of Freddie Mac’s Multifamily Housing Group, Mr. Katzenstein provided oversight of regional loan production and sales while managing a Northeast region with a multifamily portfolio approximately $15 billion throughout 10 states. Prior to that he was Managing Director of Tannery Brook Partners/Cortview Capital, supervising originations and working with senior management to create overall group origination strategy. In 2005, Mr. Katzenstein became Senior Managing Director for MUNIMAE/MMA Capital, LLC, where he directed the firm’s $3 billion investment management business, including oversight of all proprietary investment activities, third-party fund management and separate account relationships. In 1995, he joined MONY Life Insurance Company, as Managing Director.

Mr. Katzenstein is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York; the Real Estate Lenders Association; the Real Estate Finance Committee of New York; the New Jersey Apartment Association; and New York University’s Schack Institute of Real Estate Board of Advisors. He has served as a panelist, speaker and moderator for numerous real estate symposiums and conferences across the country. Additionally, he serves as Vice Chairman of Communities for Autism. Mr. Katzenstein earned a B.S. degree in marketing management from State University of New York at Albany, and an M.B.A. in finance from Long Island University Graduate School of Business.
