Retail Trailblazer Jim Koury Joins Institutional Property Advisors (IPA) as Senior Managing Director

BOSTON, Oct. 15, 2019– Institutional Property Advisors (IPA), a division of Marcus & Millichap (NYSE: MMI), announced today that Jim Koury has joined the company in Boston as a senior managing director. Previously, he was senior managing director with HFF. In his new position with IPA, Koury will be responsible for institutional retail shopping center investment sales in the Northeast.


“Jim is a well-known and highly respected trailblazer in shopping center investment sales who has held key roles in the industry throughout a career that spans more than three decades,” said Scott Holmes, senior vice president and national director of IPA retail. “His presence in the Northeast will greatly benefit investors, enhance our national retail growth initiative and further solidify our position as an industry leader in retail shopping center investment sales.” 


During his 30-year-plus career in retail investment sales in the Northeastern United States, Koury has closed more than 30 million square feet of shopping center transactions valued at over $4 billion. Prior to HFF, he served as executive vice president and partner at CB Richard Ellis. Prior to that, Koury was national director of retail sales with Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL) in Boston for 15 years. Noteworthy transactions closed by Koury during his career include a $377 million portfolio of 18 Northeastern Stop and Shop grocery-anchored centers, a $270 million, 1.4 million-square-foot portfolio of 18 Boston- area shopping centers, and a 1.4 million-square-foot grocery-anchored portfolio that sold for $117 million. 


Koury holds a Master of Science degree in finance from Boston College. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and sits on ICSC’s New England idea exchange planning committee.
